Comforts of home
Back home, and isn't it nice to get back in front of your own computer. Not
to mention drive your own car and crash out in your own properly sprung
bed - as opposed to curious British beds that always have this 'corridor of
uncertainty' in the center...
Anyway, trip home with mr. sumo jnr. was about 1000% better that outward.
He actually slept for about 6 of the 11 hours from Frankfurt - and at times
when his mother and I could eat (always the highlight when in business
class!). Of course the journey home wound not have been a 'sumo' family
trip without some problems. This time it was Lufthansa in London not having
the upgrade details on their computer screens. Once this was sorted of
course I completely failed to notice that the young girl at the check-in
counter had assigned my wife and I seats 4 rows apart! Not to worry - the
flight attendants put us together on board to Frankfurt and at Frankfurt
they sorted out the upgrades - we in fact ended up with the entire first row
in business class. My wife spread out in the left aisle, 'junior' asleep in
the baby-bed in the center whilst I crashed out in the right. Three people,
6 seats, and cabin crew who just told us to sit wherever we liked - and this
included in the galley where we took 'junior' when he needed to exercise his
lungs!
I'm thinking of giving Europe a miss for the next couple of years, then
again, unless I can get a machine-readable passport from the UK Embassy
(they assure me that the equipment will be installed by November), then it
looks like I won't be going to the USA either. I can just about accept the
machine-readable passport demands, but to have to apply for a tourist visa
in person seems a little overkill.
