Very specifically I am thinking of purchasing "The Sopranos" DVD in US during my visit there in October. I understand it is in the 4th season so I plan to purchase Season 1 thru the most currently available DVD series. From what I understand, there is really no guarantee that a region 1 DVD disk would actually work on a region free player and the only way to find out is to try it. I am beginining to consider buying a region 1 DVD player in the US and bring it to Japan. This way it is guranteed that I can view The Sopranos. Does anyone know whether a US DVD player would work in Japan provided I purchase the proper voltage converter. I assume there is no problem with frequencies difference like that of TV.
