Private for Rodney - Star Wars Galaxies
First, this game is at least as addictive as EverCrack.
Your character gets to be one of 8 major Star Wars races. While some races
have slight attribute differences, they aren't particularly significant and
don't bar the character from any profession, unlike in other games such as
EverQuest where certain races had only certain classes open to them. The
appearance of characters is also highly customizable. Unlike like most other
MMORPGs, where everyone is buff, you can be a beanpole or a fatass or
anything in between. There are six beginning classes but you aren't locked
into any of them; you can train in skills from any class you like, so you
can be a specialist or a generalist.
Five planets to start from, and then several more you can travel to from
them. Graphics and game engine are top notch. Very resource intensive. 512
MB of RAM and a 64 MB video card that supports T&L are a must. I was
particularly impressed by how bodies of water looked.
The player-based economy is very cool. There are eBay-type auctions, people
hawking their gods in the street, and PC-run shops, resulting in prices that
rise and fall with the market.
That's about all I can think of for now. I think it's a really fun game but
it really sucks the time away.
