I think 'parental rights' in Japan becomes much more of an issue if
fathers in Japan actually spend more time with their kids. I think
there is a trend in that direction, but even in the US a lot of
fathers think they spend a lot of time with their kids but don't, at
least compared to those of us that do. Sadly, many parents see kids as
a burden that they need to escape from rather than a privilege.
