Dear Sir/Madam,

The Views Paper `AFRO-ASIAN VOICES' (AAV)
Invitation for written contributions for first issue

As you would appreciate, it is a well recognized and regrettable fact that
the views of the people of Afro-Asian countries are not adequately reflected
in the International news media.

With a view to seeking at least some minor redress it is proposed to launch
a Views Paper on the World Wide Web reflecting the views purely of citizens
of countries in Africa, Middle East and Asia. The Interactive Views
Paper will be titled `AFRO-ASIAN VOICES and will initially be published on
a quarterly basis. A printed version would be published if and when there
will be an adequate demand for such a publication.

Editor of AAV is Mr. Bernard Wijedoru, a Chartered Engineer cum writer from
Sri Lanka. Since coming to Hong Kong in 1976 after reading Transportation
on a Japanese Government Research Scholarship, he has worked for the Hong
Kong British Government and subsequently ran his own Contracts and Dispute
Resolution Consultancy. He was also a Chinese Government appointed
adviser related to the Hong Kong 1997 Transition

He writes on a wide variety of topics and a number of his articles have
appeared in the local and regional media as well as in Local, Regional and
International Professional journals. He is also a columnist in the
Chinese newspapers `Wen Wei Po' and `Ta Kung Pao'. A selection of a few of
his articles could be viewed on his home page at
http://www.geocities.com/wijedoru.

AAV will only carry views on issues that affect countries in Africa, Middle
East and Asia in general like Globalization, International Pollution,
Global warming, The role of the UN and WTO, Asian Financial crisis, World
Bank and IMF policies, the World after September 11, aims and
objectives of NGO's etc.

It will not publish letters that deal with the internal matters of any
country or regarding disputes between any countries in the region

We wish to extend an invitation to citizens of Afro-Asian countries to send
in voluntary written contributions on any topic considered appropriate for
publication. The first issue will be on the Web from 28th October 2002 and
we look forward to receiving your contributions as soon as possible.
We shall be grateful if you would be so kind as to forward this invitation
to any prospective contributors from the Afro-Asian Region.

Yours faithfully,
AFRO-ASIAN VOICES

Bernard Wijedoru
