I think we can take this arguement too far. I have always believed that the
soul of the mother in the Evas was not specific to the Eva they tested. They
manifested in the Eva, where their child was. I maintain that Yui did not
die in Unit 1, but in one of the test Eva's buried in lower dogma. She
existed in a state that allowed her to manifest in a different Eva because
that was where Shinji was -
