The first time I set foot in a McDonalds was in Japan. It was
in 1981 and I had a string of small Breens in tow. The breakfasts
at our hotel were both expensive and small-gaigin-unfriendly. A
round of Egg McMuffins was just the thing.

And the *only* times I have ever been in Starbucks was in Japan too.
In my defence I have to say it was only to keep company with other
gaigin. The doppio espresso is bearable.
