I bought this computer in December 2004. I started having problems in April
2005. Tech Support diagnosed it immediately, which I interpret as a bad
sign; they'd seen the problem before. The system may or may not boot, would
intermittently shut down, and the CPU fan wouldn't run consistently. Tech
Support diagnosed it as a bad system board, and I agree, although I suspect
that overheating caused it. Anyway, they've had my computer at the repair
depot for almost 3 weeks now, and the system board is back ordered from
Japan. I hope to have it back before a month goes by. The hardware tech
support was good, but their "customer service" center is in Turkey and they
have no authority to do anything to help customers.

Web research (too late now) has found that there are a lot of problems with
the M35X system board. I had thought that Toshiba would really stand behind
this, but, sadly, they haven't. I'm very disappointed in what they've
(not)done so far.
Is Toshiba repair support really this bad?
