I've done all that. I've taken it apart and cleaned it, several times over
the years, down to individual pieces and put it back together, worked fine.
This kind doesn't have a wick. An enclosed fan blows the kerosene into the
burner and creates a mist which is ignited and continues to burn. Very
efficient, doesn't smell or smoke. Has saved me a pile of money in heating
costs over the years.
There's a PC board in it, lot's of resistors and chips. Most likely one is
dead.
