It amazes me how ignorant you can be of Japanese history, since you do claim
to be a Japanese living in Japan. From the Meiji period, Japanese copied
much of Western technology, starting with the simply-made stuff in the Meiji
era (where "Made in Japan" was usually a sign of poor quality), and
advancing onward into electronics and camera in the Showa era (where the
quality of Japanese good increased).

Why didn't you know that already? Didn't you go to school? I thought grade
school was compulsory in Japan, how did you avoid learning such things in
school?
