My husband and I will be in Tokyo for two days. Dec 30 and 31. We would like
a western style hotel with our own bathroom, and it must be a nonsmoking
room. But I still would like it to be Japanese. We would like to stay in an
area that is trendy, young and fun. Possibly has some discos for new years
eve. (Any suggestions for new years eve I would also appreciate.) I live in
New York City and can relate it to these areas like Times Square (very
touristy but fun) or Soho (trendy and expensive) great shopping and eating,
and the upper west or east sides (residential but still shopping and eating)
The price can be between $100 - $200 US a night.

I can't determine which area I should stay in. The Shibuya, Shinjuku,
Ikebukuro or the Ueno area. I am guessing that the Ueno area is great if you
need to be close to the airport. (?)

Could someone give me some advice and some direction. I am so lost.

Thanks in advance.
