Manual focus is the only way to solve this problem.

I now own a Fujifilm s5000. I moved up to digital from an old KOWA SLR and
that is a real problem for me, not having manual focusing capability, auto
focus, for I take a lot of nature shots.

I am looking seriously at the Fuji S7000 but I have a concern since this is
an automanual focus in that the focus is change by a power focuser versus
the Sony DSC F828 that has a positive focuser, meaning it is all manual when
in the manual focus setting. It does have auto focus. Talk to your supplier
about this as I am having problems trying to explain this phenomenon.
