I wonder if it's not a bunch of wishful thinking. I've always felt
Debito would have more success if he had taken a more passive
approach.

But I feel bad for anyone going through a divorce, but since I don't
know the reasons (for all we know he could have been having an affair)
I'll reserve judgement. Since he kicked me out of his Yahoo! forum I
have a definite negative opinion of him.
