Our company used X-Drive for a lot of that stuff -
http://www.xdrive.com - it has a relatively idiot-proof front-end, or
if you have non-idiot customers, you can put up encrypted files, just
in case you don't trust X-Drive not to look at your data! It's
probably less hassle than setting up your own (or third-party) FTP
server. It's all done through an HTML interface too, rather than the
rather clunky FTP client built into Explorer.
