Pfizer Drug Disappoints in Treatment-Naive RCC Study
Pfizer$B!G(Bs kinase inhibitor Inlyta (axitinib) narrowly missed its
primary endpoint in a Phase III trial in treatment-naive advanced
renal cell carcinoma (RCC) patients. The Agile study, involving over
280 patients, evaluated Inlyta versus sorafenib, and was powered to
demonstrate a 78% improvement in progression-free survival (PFS)
benefit. However, the results showed that while overall the median PFS
for Inlyta was higher than that for sorafenib, statistical
significance wasn$B!G(Bt reached.

A cancer center says 'no' to an $11000 treatment. Will others follow?

The United States spends $750 billion annually on health care that
does not make us any healthier. The world$B!G(Bs oldest private cancer
center, Memorial Sloan-Kettering in New York City, announced Monday a
surprising step to bring down that number. It will not offer patients
a $11,000 per month cancer drug called Zaltrap. Simply put, top
executives do not believe the drug is worth the price tag.
