Right now I'm tentatively thinking about July 20, heading back on the
21st; will that work for you? The only problem is how I'm going to get
there; I really want to ride a bike. I saw online that there's a bike
shop near Maibara that rents real bikes, but I don't know if they rent
for multi-day. Still got to get to Maibara, too; we'll have the JR
West pass and I think it goes as far as Kyoto. From Maibara it's
around 50 miles or so, easily doable even on a mam-chari. From Kyoto
it's a bit far, and I don't think I'm in the kind of shape I'd need to
be in to do that ride in the middle of summer.

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated. I might just suck it up and pay
for the train.
