I like to think that my judo is kodokan judo. I train regularly and
personally am not interested in the competitive aspect of it. Many people
say that you cannot learn from a book. I disagree with this, much of what I
have learned is from a book. The only difference is that you have to try out
the technique and figure out how to make it work for you. It's best if you
train with others interested in the classical style. Have you done any
Kata?

I'd recommend the older book for information on Kodokan Judo.
