I think, don't swear to it, that my Tecra 9100 got a message when it went to check with Toshiba for bios and driver updates on its regular call home. I think what happed was it pulled down new software to do that, and part of it was re-registering. I think I downloaded software but told it not to re-register. That was two weeks ago and I really do not remember. I'm pretty useless.
