If it is the same type of set-up as Portege 4000, Tecra 9100, it is a
plastic piece about 2-3/4" and less than 1/8" wide. It goes on the end
of the drive, and around the outside of both rows of pins. Its purpose
is to keep the pins from splaying outwards as the contact from computer
to drive is male, and fits between both rows of pins, and makes contact
that way.
