I have a Tecra 9100 and on it and the Portege 4000 I previously owned
the screws are NOT on the bottom. They are two on each side and the
drive site in the carrier with the electronics side facing into the
carrier. Have you ever seen a Toshiba carrier?

That I can not answer as on the two units I mentioned above the carrier
is metal and is shaped like a kitchen cabinet drawer.
