We have a report from the fj.life.in-japan Dynamics Officer that John W. has
exploded. Flight director confirms that:

>In a fit of boredom I looked up usage stats for our little group. In
>March 2002 we had 4187 posts to our little group. So far this month
>we've had 37. The top poster of all time is still Mike Cash who hasn't
>posted in a long time (Mike is also in fifth place with his Ernest T.
>Bass email address, so combined he has more posts than Scott (2) and
>Declan (3) combined).

You could go harrass him to come back.

>This month the top poster is a tie at 9 (Marvel
>and myself), and only 10 people have posted at all. Our peak of all
>time appears to be June 2002 with 4784; actually 2002 looks like the
>biggest year. I believe that was the era of legendary post-counter
>posts that ran into the hundreds per thread, with countless branches
>and personal feuds. I wonder if, 7 years later, we'll even average 1%
>of that post count.

Part of it could be the rise of blogs and the Death of Usenet, Inc. But it could
also just be the fact that maybe there isn't enough to argue about anymore :)
