Iraqi court rulings stop at US detention sites
Saturday, 17 May 2008 14:10
BAGHDAD (AP) -- In the eyes of Iraqi justice, Yahya Ali Humadi is a free
man.
To the U.S. military, he's another of the detainees in yellow jumpsuits
held at the sprawling Camp Bucca in southern Iraq.
Humadi - ordered released nine months ago after an Iraqi judge dropped
all charges - now spends his days in a legal limbo. It's one that has
confronted and confounded thousands of other Iraqis since 2003 who have

Saturday, 17 May 2008 14:05
TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) -- Last month, Marine Staff Sgt. Travis N. ''T-Bo''
Twiggs went to the White House with a group of Iraq war veterans called

Twiggs had been through four tours in Iraq, one in Afghanistan and
months of therapy for post-traumatic stress disorder in which he said he
was on up to 12 different medications.
''He said, `Sir, I've served over there many times, and I would serve
for you any time,' and he grabbed the president and gave him a big
hug,'' said Kellee Twiggs, his widow.
About two weeks later, Travis Twiggs went absent without leave from his
job in Quantico, Va.

Removed part in which he said Sec. Def. Gates, like Obama, wants to meet
with Iran
Summary: In two reports on CNN Newsroom, CNN aired comments by Robert
Gibbs, Sen. Barack Obama's communications director, responding to
President Bush's remarks that "[s]ome seem to believe we should
negotiate with terrorists and radicals," reportedly in reference to
Obama, but CNN spliced the audio clip to omit part of the statement in
which Gibbs noted that Secretary of Defense Robert Gates has reportedly
advocated a position on engaging Iran that echoes Obama's. CNN had left
intact Gibbs' reference to Gates in the audio clip of Gibbs' comments it
aired earlier in the program.

Media Caught Lying
Saturday, 17 May 2008 11:04
I stumbled on a stunning disconnect between the major media version of
election coverage and candidate appearance trends on the internet. The
Mainstream Media seems to have largely ignored something major on the web.
