"Your Mileage May Vary" -- e.g. you may not have the same result as 
others do.

The term is one commonly used in auto industry advertising to prevent 
lawsuits.  Major motor companies needed a way to let manufacturers off 
the hook when actual gasoline mileage in the real world did not come out 
similar to published numbers -- which are obtained in laboratory 
testing, in a closed building, on a rolling road.

It is a term frequently used on car and motorcycle enthusiast lists.  I 
am told by a South African acquaintance that there is a Dutch / 
Afrikaans equivalent, but I can't find it in my saved messages, right now.
