The Spirit of Japanese Curry
I consider myself as extremely lucky person. Because yesterday I got a
package from Japan. The package contained my favorite thing - Japanese
curry.
This curry can be got from convenience store in Japan, or a traditional
grocery store. The taste is very similar than in Yoshinoya shop in Japan.
I'm really poor cook, I can barely cook a bearable simple spaghetti.
Therefore I was really glad to get ready made curry. Only thing I needed to
take care was the rice.
So I went to the shop around here and bought a porridge rice. I usually use
that to cook like Japanese style rice. Then I just put rice and water in
ratio of 1:1,5 and hit the on switch. Heating the curry sauce was really
easy too. I just boiled some water and showed the folio bag in for five to
ten minutes.
Gosh the taste was great. I truly wonder of food can have spirit. Truly
marvellous, fantastic taste. I went to Japanese foodshop then and bought a
curry block. It contains nine blocks - so you can get nine small cubes and
use them for soup, or whatever to add some spice and curry flavor. Ofcourse
you can use that to cook this Japanese style curry as well. I have no idea
how since instruction is all in Japanese.
Curry has indian origin. But this curry I can get from Japan seems to be
totally different kind of food than indian. At least in Indian restaurants
here in Helsinki you can't get anything like this. Finnish curry foods are
very different as well. Nothing like this. Especially that sauce cannot be
found from shops around here.
