I have always supposed that it was because indeed meant "all speed"
(horrible franglais, using English "all" with French "vitesse.")
However my interpretation was that it would work wit 3-, 4- and 5-speed
freewheels. Previous Hur$(D??t models were the old coil-spring style, which
generally required buying a model specifically designed for the number
of speeds of your freewheel. Those had very limited range adjustment
available.

I don't but that reminds me of a name I invented that I am rather proud
of...A few years back my wife was doing some work for IBM, working on a
software tool for font design/editing. I came up with the name
"Elefont" which was indeed adopted for the project, though in the end it
never came to market.

"Blazer" has always seemed strange to me, though it's more generally the
Ford products that have the reputation for going up in flames...
One of my all-time favorite cars was the Citroen DS, which is actualy a
pun in French. The letters "DS" in French are pronouced "day" "ess"
which is also how the French word for "goddess" (d$(D??esse) is pronounced.
