I wonder if some of you are watching DVDs in other formats than the ones used
on commercially available DVDs.
A friend gave me a coule of self-burned videos of older sitcoms that are
hard to get nowadays. They are either in AVI or MPEG format. I can watch
them on my computer (good quality), but not on the DVD player via the big
TV screen in my living room.
After producing a couple of beautiful DVD coasters, somebody said that I
should get a "Smart DVD Player: which would solve the problem... (reading
AVI, MPEG, VCD)
Are there any of them sold here in Japan. If so, which models and where are
they sold?
If this is not the solution, which conversion software can easily convert
AVI and MPEG to DVD format?

Any good hints are very much appreciated.
