Quality comes at a price, but to answer your question - no. If I'd taken
leave of my senses and bought a house, then opportunity cost would have
meant that all of the seed capital needed for the business would have
instead been used to for 4 walls and a roof. Then the company wouldn't
have started in the first place & instead of 11 employees there would
have been none. Plus for at least a few years if not longer, I'd have
been enduring the life of a salaried bloke doing what other people
decided. No thank you.

Most of my assets are liquid (shares in my businesses, some in
customer's companies, some in Toyota and other firms I know well, plus a
few securities) and are so for what I think are good reasons. I'm
single, I don't apply for permanent residency until later this month so
a loan hasn't been something I've really looked into much, and a few
years after the wedding we migth wish to move, "do a Ryan" or even go to
Europe or Australia. The current apartment is comparatively cheap,
costing less than what servicing an average mortage in Okazaki would
cost. It has 2 parking spots, is a five minute drive from work and I
rent it from a (different) company I own shares in. I'll buy what I
want, where I want, when I want. Only an idiot would do otherwise.
