mind, ambivalence, failing to respond, dithered, temporising, bad at 
running things..."

You must have a different definition of what constitutes waxing 
nostagically in someone's obituary. Listing "courage and perseverance" - 
the two main positive qualities he had - hardly makes what is usually 
considered a conservative magazine one that somehow "leans left".
