Its not exactly out of the way though is it? Easy to get to from both 
the Kanto & Kansai areas, convenient for travelling between the two and 
in just about every guidebook known to the species. Plus the main 
attractions are closer together than in Kyoto, without the population of 
a big city diluting the tourist horde. Kanazawa drips gaigin.
