When I went home and tried to get a copy of my driving record from my
home licensing center, in person, presenting my license upon request, to
be able to prove to the Japanese police how long I'd had my home license,
my home licensing center claimed that they could not issue me a copy of
my driving record because it would be a violation of my privacy.
* Giving me my own information would be a violation of my privacy. *
Luckily, I had held on to a license from the year before I arrived in
Japan to be able to prove I'd been living at home with a license.
What made it even more ludicrous was the fact that they had issued me a
driving record before.
