The Windows XP drivers should work just fine with Windows 2000. They're all
at the Toshiba UK website...

I've struggled with my Portege A100 for over a year now, and the list of
incompatibilities with applications running on the Portege A100 with the XP
Pro o/s provided is too long to mention !
There are also continual problems with prolonged hesitation for no apparent
reason, misreading of the date into applications, multiple monitor display
configuration errors etc. etc. etc.
The speed and performance of the Portege A100 with XP Pro is absolutely
abysmal when comparing it to Windows 2000 and Linux.
In fact my old P1 MMX 133MHz Libretto with Windows 2000 has similar
performance.
(God I wish Toshiba still made the Libretto with a Centrino & 2Gb RAM)
Anyway, as a test I installed Windows 2000 on the Portege and it absolutely
flies !
I mean it really is very fast, five to ten times faster than with XP Pro
installed.
But the problem is there don't seem to be any Win2K drivers available
(Display, network bridge, PCMCIA etc.)
Does anyone know if there's a set of Win2K drivers available for the Portege
and, if so, where to get them ?
Alternatively does anyone know of something useful I can do with my Portege,
as it's far too slow to use for anything other than browsing the web ?
In its favour, I suppose it does play DVDs OK ish !
