A french worker is likely to have more than 6 weeks of vacation since the
law on working time was passed, but it varies a lot according to your
activity branch and your status.
Before the law, the number of worked hours per week was 39 and there was a
minimal number of 5 weeks of vacations per year.
The new law changed the number of worked hours per week from 39 to 35, but
it is being handled differently in different companies according to the
outcome of negociations between the syndicates and the employers.
Some companies actually changed the working hours to 35 a week. Some work
now 4 days a week. I have now 8 weeks of vacations per year.
