DID people in the original audience complain about the overly-long stills &
rampantly obvious shortcuts used in Eva? I only ask because in FLCL, a later
GAINAX oddball creation, there's a specific joke made by Noata's dad, who in
a bout of self-awareness mentions how they should 'stop doing still-frame
scenes (a la manga) because the audience is frustrated by them.'
