Agreed, because the bank you find may be like my local bank, and say it will take a month to confirm with the issuing bank in a foreign country, and $30 or 30% (can't remember) PER check to cash, at their rate. People shouldn't use foreign checks to Japan. Ask people to wire money or give you traveler's checks.
