I think I agree with you.  But I would say that I don't believe
education is necessarily useful.  However, degrees are.  For example, I
observed little correlation between level of "education" and starting
salary among my graduating class in college.  But everyone had to
graduate in order to be eligible for the big money jobs, like being a
salesman for Texas Instruments.
