Out of curiosity, where might such places be? (Whisper it so the yahoos
don't hear)

Personally, I would find wading through the sludge around here pretty
unbearable of late without the liberal use of filters -- and this is
probably one of the more civil and quiet groups around.

The problem IMO is the attrition rate of interesting personalities -- there
are not enough new ones to take their slack. Plus, shall we say, a certain
polarization of our existing ones. So, are the newsgroup prowlers getting
duller, or are we getting fuddy-duddier?
