Leaving aside whether I do or not, remember that I live in Okinawa.
This is a place where, if you want what mainlanders think of as soba you
must ask for "nihon soba" -- just asking for soba will get you "Okinawa
soba," which most closely resembles udon, but usually with a big hunk of
pork floating on top.
If you want sake, you must ask for "nihon shu" -- asking for sake will get
you awamori.
And asking for "tempura" will get you something most closely resembling fish
and chips sans the chips, unless you get "satou tempura," in which case you
will get something most closely resembling a "donut hole."
The other day, one of the ladies in my neighborhood told me she lived in
nihon for 20 years, but then moved back to Okinawa.
To cut a long story short, at a diner like that I would expect a typical
meal to be rather un-washoku in character.
