That is a typical method of Confucianism. Confucians always look down
on those who work with sweating, such as artisans, and respect those
who have literacy then spend a great deal of their times in their
studies.

The Koreans don't respect craftsmanship while craftsmen are fairly
respected in Japan.

I would damn such sense of Confucianism, though.
