A few years back, while I was living in Japan I have read in a book (I can't
recall the name) that the first trade ties between Turkey and Japan was
hashish trade that took place *legally* until early 1930s. The book claimed
that hashish was legal in both countries back than and was traded like any
other commercial good.

Today, while reading a Turkish book on drug history of Turkey, I have found
this bit of information: ". As the opium of Turkey is of a renowned quality,
1926 and after heroin factories partly owned by foreigners had been opened.
The very first heroin factory in Istanbul had been opened in Taksim (where
today a Sushi joint is located) and had been owned by Japanese. . "

Today, there is a Sushi joint at identified location. Isn't this funny?
