I don't think they did.  I believe they attempted to disengage his sex
life from matters of public and national policy.  I've yet to find how
the two are connected to date.

Except that I don't recall them every acknowledging being "caught", the
existance of a hand or cookie jar or anything remotely like that.  So
far, despite majestic and historic screw-ups in every conceivable way,
Bush has made no mistakes and if there were any--it was somebody else's
fault.
