It does not have a connection for an external monitor.


Your description says the screen is blank and the fan

The power light remains on

This one has always come on while booting, then went off and came back 
on when the processor warmed up.

Yes, I've opened the drawer with a paper clip via the release hole. 
Tried a bootable disk -nothing.

Yes, I guess I may not have been clear - I tried both suggestions -no luck!

Had that happen about a year ago - fortunately still under warranty and 
was repaired.

I think it's a lost cause, and my wife has accepted the loss and is 
already looking at new computers.
