Have you ever used a 3rd party to sort out your visa? I'm just interested
to know how much such services run to in notoriously expensive Nagoya.
I pay my man 40000yen on top of the cost of the visa/re-entry permit. It's
good value for me being so far from Nagano city. The last two times it was
of course for a three-year visa each time so spread that 40000yen over 36
months. And I'll certainly use him again next year when I apply for the
golden goose.
In fact I'd suggested to a local GEOS 'serf', who wanted to renew her
re-entry permit only, to use my man at a cost of 10000yen on top of the
6000yen for the permit. She eventually declined saying that since she was
heading off to Tokyo anyway at some time in the future she'd pop to the main
immigration office there. The only time I've been there was last May and
then I was in my car (correction, my wife's car with a navi) and couldn't
actually tell you where I was in relation to anywhere else - Shinjuku being
my only personal point of reference (not forgetting my luxury accommodation
down in Kanagawa).
Anyway - I wondered just how long it would take her to a) find the place
(she's taking the highway bus to Shinjuku) b) find the correct madoguchi c)
actually complete the application. Would it be less than 10000yen's worth
of effort?
I remember when I was there (getting my visa/permit stamps transferred to a
new passport) it was a little bit confusing - so I actually telephoned the
office from within the building and they told me exactly which color/number
window I had to go to. Once there the process took about 10 minutes.
