I'm not sure why it would be a Japanese bank. If it were a transfer from the
US then it would likely be an American bank.  IOW, the exchange rate is set
by the bank sending the money, not receiving it.

My experience has been that banks do not offer very good exchange rates for
transfers.  But I wonder what kind of rate you can get transferring from
your American Citibank account to your (Japanese?) Citibank account.  I've
heard there's no advantage, but haven't verified that.  The info at the
Citibank site, of course, only talks about the fees involved and not the
rates.

Unfortunately, the company I used before has gone bankrupt under charges of
fraud...

I believe the best rate you're going to get is by withdrawing $1,000 daily
from a Citibank ATM in Japan.  For me, the rate has always been about 1%
different from the rate that's published on Yahoo Finance.
