They do go insane, from time to time, but unless it expresses itself
in some spectacular fashion, you see instead suicide, stress-related
illness, drinking, smoking, family troubles, etc., rather than in
overt rebellion. That's the fascinating thing about it. Nobody is
making people stay until the last train. People do it to themselves.
So who or what should they rebel against? For most, it seems like the
only hope is to leave Japan. Perhaps eventually the system will simply
break.
