SCAM ALERT: American War Library - Phill Coleman et al
THIS IS A WARNING TO ANY READER OR VISITOR TO THIS NEWSGROUP.
The alt.military.police newsgroup does NOT endorse or condone the actions of
the multiple personalities listed in the subject line of this post. In fact,
readers should be aware that Otis Willie, aka Brooke Rowe, aka Phill Coleman
are one-in-the-same person!!
Alt.military.police and the regular members hereof, disavows ANY connection to
the so-called "American War Library" or it's many links (such as DEA Watch) and
numerous other sites. Those sites allege to be separate when in fact, they are
the same as the "American War Library" or "AWL" for short.
The webmaster of those sites is one Phill Coleman. Access to his alleged
"services," require users to download an executable file. (Any novice computer
user, SHOULD know to NEVER download or install any executbable file from any
non-authenticated source.) Please note that the site is not authenticated and
does NOT offer any secure data transmissions.
Since the site does NOT offer SECURE data transmissions, entering any of the
personal information required by Phill Coleman (et al), i.e., name, address,
SERVICE NUMBER (bad, bad idea to provide to him) and even SOCIAL SECURITY
NUMBERS, is subject to being intercepted by the entire world of hackers.
Furthermore, providing such information subjects anyone who provides it with
being vulnerable to becoming the victim of IDENTITY THEFT. (There is a
lucrative market in selling identification information; ESPECIALLY birthdates,
social security numbers and so on.)
The sites also offer so-called "services" such as re-issuance of military award
certificates. Of particular interest is the Purple Heart medal... and the
Distinguished Service medal (among others). The certificates are COMPLETELY
bogus -- homemade in fact. [I suspect that this provides Otis Willie, aka
Brooke Rowe, aks Phill Coleman, with a technical loophole by not duplicating
actual medal award certificates and FORGING their issuance.] Again, the
"service" requires input of specific, PERSONAL data which can subject users to
IDENTITY THEFT as well as actual FRAUDULENT USE of credit card information.
This post will now be copied and pasted to as many other military newsgroups as
I can find. Likewise, I am contacting the FBI about Coleman's scams;
specifically his offering re-issuance of combat awards which is specifically
forbidden by certain US Codes under Title 18 and subsections thereof.
Sincerely,
Bill
