This is exactly what my comment was about!

But we are looking at a cultural divide here: while a fridge kills the
taste of German wine, white wine in some other parts of the world needs
to be almost frozen to be palatable. ;-)

Back to Japan: since cellars are rare here, better liquor stores
nowadays have a wine room where bottles are stored horizontally and the
temperature is kept at around 12 degrees.
