Hello, anonymous divine poster on a famous island of the we(s)t coast,
assume for a moment your provider had a set of local newsgroups or a
newsgroup-like BBS, and one day you saw the following message posted
there:

FROM: amaterasu <jimmu.tenno@yahoo.co.jp>
Hi
I need some detailed information on dugout canoe building techniques,
procedures in birth, wedding, and death ceremonies, as well as
information on traditional clam digging, etc. as performed in the early
1940s.
Thanks!

Prize question:
Q: What would you do?
Possible answers:
A1: I would rush to the nearest library, pull out dozens of what I think
might be suitably related books on Salish culture in the mid-20th
century, copy out the many pages with what I think might be relevant
information, type it all up and post it to the newsgroup/BBS to curry
favor with the exalted being who requested this information.
A2: I would hold my breath and see how the old hands in the newsgroup
take the poster for a ride.
