In Japanese, i'm sure. I've used something like that on precocious
school kids who loudly expressed surprise that i could speak Japanese -
i complimented them in an equally loud voice on their good Japanese,
which made their peers hoot and holler at them and somehow caused them
to put a rather sheepish look on their faces...

People are fun - at any age...
