Many travel agents are not very clever when it comes to finding unusual
routes. I haven't had to deal with flight to South America ever, so i am
not aware of what might be possible, but i'd do some serious research on
alternative routes.

Like. is there no direct flight from anywhere in East Asia (for example,
Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Philippines) to Mexico or any other country in
Central or South America

Are there actually planes that can fly that far? From Osaka to Santiago,
Chile it's 10,000 km in a straight line, for example...

And are there perhaps flights from places in East Asia (Japan, Korea,
Taiwan, Philippines) to Mexico or any other country in Central or South
America that go via Australia or New Zealand and/or a point in the
Pacific that is not US-controlled, like Tahiti? (You might have to do a
stopover there, perhaps - not a bad idea, i'd guess.)

Just a few questions that i never had to ask before...
