You'll be too late for the Sumo, but I think the Kabuki schedules start
on the first of each month. However, the first day might be sold out by
the time you arrive. But, on the third hand, there's always the one-act
Tourist seats way up in the gods or you could go to the theatre and ask
if there are any returns (frustrating thing is, if you do get seats
under such circumstances, you'll see many many empty seats in the
theatre).
